Revved Community Guidelines
Effective date: 28 August 2026
Version 1.0
Revved is built by car and motorcycle enthusiasts, for car and motorcycle enthusiasts, with a genuine celebration of South African car culture at its heart. These Guidelines keep the community safe, fair, and fun.
These Guidelines form part of our Terms and Conditions and should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Child Safety Standards. By using Revved you agree to follow them. Breaking them can cost you content, REVS, Trophies, or your account.
Revved is operated by Revved (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/590617/07), a South African company. Contact details are at the end of this document.
1. Revved Is for Adults
You must be 18 or older to use Revved. We do not permit accounts for anyone under 18, and we close accounts where we believe the holder is underage. This is set out in our Privacy Policy and is a condition of using the Service.
2. Respect the Community
Treat other members with courtesy. Healthy debate about builds, brands, and driving styles is welcome. Personal attacks, harassment, and hate speech are not.
We do not allow content that advocates hatred based on race, ethnicity, gender, sex, sexual orientation, religion, disability, nationality, or any other ground listed in section 9 of the Constitution — including anything amounting to incitement to cause harm under the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act 4 of 2000.
3. Share Real, Honest Content
Your Garage should reflect vehicles you genuinely own or have a real connection to
Modification logs, photographs, and build details should be accurate — don’t fabricate a build to inflate your Trophies
Event listings must be honest and accurate
4. Play Fair with REVS, Levels, and Trophies
Our rewards systems only mean something if they are earned honestly.
One account per person. No extra accounts to farm REVS or Trophies.
No fake RevTag scans. Scans should reflect real interactions between real vehicles and real people.
No leaderboard manipulation. No coordinated fake follows, likes, or comments to game Top Builds or any other leaderboard.
Accounts found farming rewards in bad faith may have REVS and Trophies revoked and face suspension
REVS, Levels, and Trophies have no monetary value and cannot be sold, transferred, or exchanged.
5. RevTag Etiquette
Only scan a RevTag with the owner’s knowledge. RevTag is for connecting with people, not tracking them.
Don’t publish someone else’s RevTag code publicly to invite unwanted scanning or harassment
Never use RevTag to follow, locate, or intimidate another person. This may be an offence under the Protection from Harassment Act 17 of 2011 and will result in a permanent ban.
Report misuse to support@joinrevved.co.za
6. Keep It Safe and Legal on the Road
No content that glorifies illegal street racing, reckless or negligent driving, or dangerous stunts on public roads
Spinning, drifting, and similar motorsport culture is welcome when it is clearly tied to sanctioned events on closed circuits or private property — not public-road activity
Never use Revved while actively driving or riding
7. No Sexual, Violent, or Shocking Content
No pornographic or sexually explicit content, and no gratuitous violence or gore. Keep language and themes appropriate for a broad adult car community.
8. Child Safety — Zero Tolerance
Revved has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).
We prohibit any content or behaviour that sexualises, endangers, exploits, or abuses a child, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, and the trafficking of minors
We prohibit any attempt to solicit contact with a minor
Report concerns immediately through the in-app report function or to support@joinrevved.co.za
We remove such content on discovery, permanently ban the accounts involved, preserve evidence, and report to the South African Police Service and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by the Films and Publications Act 65 of 1996 and the Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020
Our full Child Safety Standards are published at https://joinrevved.co.za/child-safety.
9. No Non-Consensual or Intimate Imagery
Never post intimate images of another person without their consent. Distributing a non-consensual intimate image is a criminal offence under section 16 of the Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020.
10. No Unauthorised Advertising
Revved’s feeds are for enthusiasts sharing their own builds and experiences, not for unsolicited flyers, adverts, or promotions. If you would like to promote a business or event, contact us at support@joinrevved.co.za about official options.
11. Respect Intellectual Property
Only post photographs and content you own or have permission to share. We comply with the Copyright Act 98 of 1978 and will remove infringing content on a valid complaint. Send takedown requests to support@joinrevved.co.za.
Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.
12. No Impersonation
Don’t impersonate another person, brand, organiser, or public figure, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
13. No Illegal Goods, Services, or Modifications
Don’t advertise or promote stolen parts, counterfeit products, illegal modifications, or anything that unlawfully bypasses emissions or safety regulations.
14. Event Responsibility
Event organisers are solely responsible for the safety, legality, permits, insurance, and execution of their events
Attendees participate at their own risk
Don’t post private or invite-only event details without the organiser’s consent
Revved is not the organiser of any member-created event
15. No Harassment, Bullying, or Threats
Zero tolerance for targeted harassment, threats, doxxing, or coordinated pile-ons against any member. Don’t publish another person’s private information — home address, workplace, phone number, ID number, or licence plate — without their consent.
16. No Data Harvesting or Bots
Don’t use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to collect data from Revved or to interact with the App on your behalf.
17. Reporting
Every post, comment, profile, message, and vehicle on Revved can be reported.
Use the report button attached to the content, or email support@joinrevved.co.za. Please put the reason in the subject line, for example “Report”, “Appeal”, “Child safety”, or “Copyright”, so we can route it quickly.
You can block any member. Blocking stops them contacting you, seeing your content, or scanning your RevTag.
Reports are confidential. We do not tell the reported member who reported them.
We review reports and remove violating content and eject the offending member within 24 hours of a substantiated report. Child safety and imminent-harm reports are prioritised immediately.
18. Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, enforcement may include:
Action | When |
|---|---|
Content removal | Content breaches these Guidelines |
Warning | First or minor breach |
REVS or Trophy reversal | Rewards obtained through prohibited activity |
Temporary suspension | Repeated or serious breach |
Permanent ban | Severe breach, or repeated breaches after warning |
Serious categories — child safety, non-consensual intimate imagery, credible threats of violence, and RevTag stalking — result in immediate permanent removal without warning, and referral to the authorities where appropriate.
19. Appeals
If you believe an enforcement decision was wrong, email support@joinrevved.co.za within 30 days. Include your username and what you are appealing.
Appeals are reviewed by a person, not an automated system
We aim to respond within 10 business days
You may ask us to correct or delete personal information we hold about an enforcement decision, as described in our Privacy Policy
20. Celebrate South African Car Culture
Revved exists to celebrate the diversity of car and motorcycle culture across South Africa — from bakkie builds to JDM imports to Kyalami track days. Be proud of where you’re from, welcoming to those who aren’t, and generous with your knowledge and encouragement.
